If you’re a student of prophecy you know that when speaking of the Popes or “heads” of the beast power in Rome, Revelation 13:1 clearly says, “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.”
There are two ways the Bible defines blasphemy. One is when a man calls himself a god and the other is when that man claims to have the power to forgive sin. This also means if you declare a man to be a god, you blaspheme as well.
- Man claiming to be God:
John 10:33, “The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” - Man claiming power to forgive sin:
Mark 2:7, “Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?”
First and foremost, notice how Jesus speaks of His Father in Heaven as He is praying right before being arrested. In John 17:11 He says, “And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.”
By the way, that one verse is the only verse in the entire Bible that the term “Holy Father” is used. This easily confirms this is a title reserved only for our Heavenly Father. Yet every news anchor, ever politician, every Hollywood star, every Catholic priest as well as all Catholics and non-Catholics alike use that term when speaking of the Pope. And why do people blaspheme like this? it’s because as prophesied, the man of sin in Rome has demanded he be declared “another god on earth” since day one. Here are just a few of many quotes documenting this as fact.
- The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, he is Jesus Christ himself, hidden under the veil of flesh.” Catholic National July 1895.
- “We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty” …Pope Leo XIII Encyclical Letter of June 20, 1894,
- “For thou art the shepherd, thou art the physician, thou art the director, thou art the husbandman, finally thou art another God on earth.” Labbe and Cossart’s “History of the Councils.” Vol. XIV, col. 109
- The title “Lord God the Pope” is found within a gloss of Extravagantes of Pope John XXII, title 14, chapter 4
In an Antwerp edition of the Extravagantes, the words, “Dominum Deum Nostrum Papam” (Our Lord God the Pope) can be found in column 153. In a Paris edition, they are found in column 140. - The Bull Unam Sanctam… Issued by POPE BONIFACE VIII reads as follows: “The Roman Pontiff judges all men, but is judged by no one. We declare, assert, define and pronounce: to be subject to the Roman Pontiff is to every human creature necessary for salvation that which was spoken of Christ ‘thou has subdued all things under his feet’ may well seem verified in me… I have the authority of the King of Kings. I am all in all and above all, so that God himself and I, the vicar of God, have but one consistory, and I am able to do all that God can do.”
- “The Saviour Himself is the door of the sheepfold: ‘I am the door of the sheep.’ Into this fold of Jesus Christ, no man may enter unless he be led by the Sovereign Pontiff; and only if they be united to him can men be saved, for the Roman Pontiff is the Vicar of Christ and His personal representative on earth.” (Pope John XXIII in his homily to the Bishops and faithful assisting at his coronation on November 4, 1958).
- “To make war against the Pope is to make war against God, seeing the Pope is God, and God is the Pope.” -Moreri’s History. (Louis Moréri (25 March 1643 – 10 July 1680) was a French priest and encyclopedist.)

The other definition of blasphemy is also found embraced by the Popes of Rome when you look at their doctrine regarding confession. As we saw earlier, according to the Bible, claiming to have the power to “forgive men sins.” is also an open and obvious sign the one proclaiming such power is in fact Antichrist.
Most know all about the “confessional” of the Roman Catholic Church. But because the Popes and prelates never show the people the Bible verses proving the confessional is a blasphemous doctrine, most don’t know how dangerous this all is. But to remove all doubt that the Roman Church does in fact declare they have this power that Scripture says is blasphemous to even assume such power. Notice how they admit this in writing.
- “This judicial authority will even include the power to forgive sin.” -The Catholic Encyclopaedia Vol 12, -article “Pope” pg 265
- “And God himself is obliged to abide by the judgment of his priest and either not to pardon or to pardon, according as they refuse to give absolution, provided the penitent is capable of it.” -Liguori, «Duties and Dignities of the Priest», p.27
